Surfboards are made from all sorts of material, but this is the first time we’ve ever featured ones made entirely from recycled cork stoppers.
Led by two young designers from Murcia, Spain, the firm known as Richpeoplethings is introducing the world to their recycled cork surfboards. So where does all this cork come from? The surfers have been collecting cork stoppers donated by volunteers for quite some time, and after organizing them into similar sized groups, the designers then use beeswax and pine resin to create the actual surfboards. To say the end result is stunning would be nothing short of an understatement. Not only are these some of the best surfboards we’ve ever seen (aesthetically speaking), the brand claims that they perform better as well. The boards are waterproof, lightweight, buoyant, and provide much better grip for catching those perfect waves. Each and every board is handmade, which means you’ll have to wait about 2 months from the order date to get your hands on one of these beauties.
